Rat and mice are commonly called rodents. They are the most destructive creatures known to man. They are important pests found in Indian households the losses caused by them are so high that it cannot be determined in terms of money. Though these are many type and varieties of rodents, basically four different kinds are found in Indian house. It gnews through furniture , fabrics and paper and uses these materials to upholster its nest. The female has four to six pregnancies a year , each producing four to eight young ones, which become independt within a month. The house mouse is a known diseases. All in all this tiny mouse is cute but it is a pest.

The Indian mole, rat is 16.5 to 22 cm long its tail is haireless with well marked rings. It is dark brown or blackish in colour with reddish brown underside. It is found in fields, gardens and wastelands. It makes burrows with fresh dug earth thrown in front. It feeds on grains and grasses and destroys the crops . .luckily it is not found in homes though a stray individuals may visit farmhouse and village homes.
